Ante-Post

Betting well before an event, often before the final field or fixture is confirmed — outright winners of a league or tournament, for example.

Prices are usually longer than they will be closer to the event, but your money is committed for much longer, and under traditional ante-post terms a stake is not returned if your selection never takes part. Later "non-runner no bet" markets do return the stake instead — the terms attached to the market decide which applies.
