Closing Line Value
Also called: CLV, Beating the close
The difference between the price you took and the price the market settled at just before the event started.
Consistently taking a bigger price than the closing one is the measure most serious bettors use to judge whether their process is any good, because it is far less noisy than short-run profit and loss.
Measuring against the closing price
Price you took2.10 (47.6% implied)
Closing price1.90 (52.6% implied)
ResultPositive closing line value
If it had closed at 2.40Negative closing line value
Note: closing line value says nothing about whether an individual bet won — a bet can beat the close and still lose.
